Technische Hochschule Stuttgart
educational institution, general
At the Technische Hochschule in Stuttgart in 1963, mathematician Frieder Nake developed a drawing programme that made it possible to connect the institute computer (SEL ER65) to the newly acquired drawing machine, Graphomat (ZUSE Z64). This arrangement led to the emergence, along with the customary technical drawings, of the first digitally produced drawings with a pretension to be aesthetic. It took the plotter 3 hours to complete Nake’s graphic 13/9/65 Nr. 2 Hommage à Paul Klee.
In February 1965 there was an exhibition called Generative Computergrafik at the Studiengalerie der TH Stuttgart.
