(More about BBK in German.)

BBK has its roots in the »Bremer Künstlerbund«. In 1976, this association of artists in Bremen changed its name into »Berufsverband Bildender Künstler«. By that time BBK had strong links to the trade unions. However, when in 1989 the new union »IG Medien« was founded, BBK did not become a member of this encompassing union of all those working in or for the media. BBK continues to support activities of IG Medien related to the arts.
