Born 1924-07-28 in Okucani, Croatia.

Born 1924 in Okucani,Croatia. Painter, printmaker, sculptor, and designer. Together the architects Bernardo Bernardi, Zdravko Bregovac, Zvonimir Radić, Bozidar Rašica, Vjenceslav Richter and Vladimir Zarahović, and the painters Vlado Kristl, and Aleksandar Srnec, co-founded of the group Exat51 (Experimental Atelier 1951). He had his first one-man show in 1952 and since then he participate on numerous solo and group exhibitions all over the world. Picelj was involved in the origins of the international movement, New Tendencies. As part of this movement he helped in the organization of exhibitions, co-edited several issues of the journal bit international, and designed many of the posters and publications produced by the New Tendencies. He worked a great deal with the Denise Rene Gallery, Paris. For his works he was awarded on several occasions in Croatia and abroad. Lives and works in Zagreb.

1951 Co-founded of the Exat 51 group.

1955 Organized the first exhibition of industrial design in Zagreb.
1956 Co-founded Industrial Design Studio (SIO).
1961 – 1978 Was part of the New Tendencies movement.
Today Lives and works in Zagreb.
